Dr. Marc Steben is a family physician. He works at the National Public Health Institute of Quebec in the sexually transmitted infections (STIs) unit. He chairs the Quebec committee on STIs and is a member of the STIs laboratory analyzes committee. He is the Medical Director of Clinique A, a clinic specializing in the multidisciplinary approach to sexual health.

He was a researcher in the international team that studied the efficacy and safety of the quadrivalent vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV) and a member of the team of publications and the global advisory board. He is also a member of the expert group and lead author of the chapters on HPV, genital herpes and genital ulcers for the Lignes directrices canadiennes pour les infections transmises sexuellement. He is involved in research about anogenital diseases. His publications cover the topics of warts, anal, vulvar and cervical cancers as well as other STIs and diseases of the vulva and vagina. He was President of the 2010 Conference of the International Papillomavirus Society.
